Bus workers have been given full police powers in Cardiff to try and alleviate yobbish behaviour blighting the town's bus services.

Wonder how long it will be before the idea is spread across the UK.

Thought they could already chuck people off the buses anyway? Just wonder how many let the authority go to their heads.

They have always been able to throw passengers off for bad behaviour, but that can sometimes lead to problems for the drivers afterwards. By giving them police powers they should find it easier as if faced with someone refusing to get off, they can use reasonable force, which under normal working practice they are not allowed to do.

Southern Vectis on the Isle of Wight have given their drivers permission to remove anyone, including juveniles, from the vehicle if that person is behaving in a way deemed to make the vehicle unsafe to continue its journey.

I don't think there is an actual uniform way of handling disruptive behaviour, each company tends to have its own way to deal with such things.
