My 325i touring has failed its MOT on both outer ball joint failure.

I got onto europarts, which tell me they cost £181 each for this model, appose to £30 for the rest of the |E30 range.

The difference being that the inner ball joints are bigger on the 325i touring.

What I need to know is does anybody know if the stud on the ball joint is still the same diameter, letting it fit through the subframe.

I've been told the other alternative of replacing the ball joint is a pain, but also when i've checked my wishbones the o/s one is alloy, which i presume will be cast, and removing a ball joint would crack the wishbone?

Cheers Paul

Buy the steel arms instead, the only benefit of the alloy arms is the weight (half that of the steel arms), as you may already know, 325i tourings and M3's were fitted with the alloy arms, I'm also in the same situation, needing new arms on my M3, but I will be replacing them with the steel items. Just make sure you replace them in pairs.

Problem sorted! Seems the ball joints are the same, and the price difference is purely because of them being made of alloy!
