You're right, not the best looking ones, slightly better looking with the quad lights, but I don't do bodywork so XJ6's are out.

According to another Jag and Royce nut I know the tin and electrics get's better from 90 onwards, later you go better the tin, then you've got the nikasil problems and X300's eating their exhaust manifolds to contend with, I'll stick with the straight six.

Yes apparently both Ford and GM came knocking on the door, when Rover had a good market share.

Could pressure test and skim the old head and screw it back together again but I don't like it enough to do that.

Wheels, part no 82119409636 with good tyres, haven't checked the spare, knowing the previous owner that'll be good too.

Couple of bits are already taken.

Wrong wheels they're actually 15 spoke jobbies, someone's got their eye on them at the moment, see if it pans out.

Can't get over the stupid front suspension and steering design on E32's absolute joke of poor design.

[/QUOTE]

Are you  jocking, It a great setup easey to work on and replace parts and made the car one off the best handaling cars on the road,

You wont stupid set ups go for the jags, I have sean and worked on both. BMW's are easy cars to work on, the worst being Rover, VW and Fords,

Doesn't matter if it's easy to work on, still a silly design, using 2 curly whirly bottom arms that are constantly twisting the inner bushes at every turn of the wheel.

One wishbone with one removable ball joint and a tie rod would have done nicely, loved the 50-60 shimmer and shake.

Didn't like steering box and collection of arms and bushes to control the wheels either, more bits that can fail and need replacing.

Let's not get silly every manufacturer has their faults or the 735 wouldn't be going in the bin or the last owner wouldn't have sold it on to me, guy couldn't justify putting yet more money into it and it's got some sizable bills too.

Rover's yeah they're all rubbish that's why I'm back driving the same one I've had since 2000, I'm bored with it now but it's only let me down twice when a metal coolant pipe sprung a leak and plates broke up in the battery.

I suppose you advised the guy to bin the car at 77K what was wrong with it then?

My one was parked up for a year took it 1/2 mile to the MOT man and it passed the emmissions test straight away, no italian tune up or tweaking, obviously a fluke because all Rovers are rubbish.

Last Rover I had picked up at 160K, wound the boost up to 13 psi and hammered it for 22K and sold it on after a year and it's still going strong with it's new owner who drives like a loon.

The 827 with 77 k fell at the emmissions, some twot had put pads on shot disks that were to fin, it needed shocks arms busses exaust, ABS folt  you name it it needed it, but it ran and drove nice and the boddy work was very good, shame as it is a nice car. just poo undernith. Rovers are mutch better than fords I onley like the old ones SD1 P5 and ~P6  now there lovley cars

Are yours the Honda engined .

Nope Rover T16 lumps, had a 827 got that for nothing with 130k on the clock and broken front and rear screens only mechanical work that needed was the water pump, which isn't too bad at 130K.

Sounds like that one had been driven into the ground or black n deckered.

My mech has a Honda V6 Rover 827i in for some elec work. its a total shed. when ticking over, the engine makes more noise than a London taxi (diesel racket). engine bay totally crammed with transverse lump & ancilliaries. no working space at all. I'll stay with my BM's please. straight 6 lump mounted longitudinally, thats the way to do it

George, if you're going to move on from Beemers, have you considered a Vauxhall Senator? Yeah, I know they stopped making them about 1993-94, but a good 12valve example is virtually bulletproof. Don't like the 24valve engine. They're so cheap now as well . A lot of car for the money. I totally agree with you about Rover 800's, I've just sold 2. My wifes' one had getting on for 300k on the clock and still didn't use a spot of oil. Wife's got an e32 now, if that breaks, I'll be looking for another Senator for her, they're her all-time favourite car. Shame you've had a bad experience with the BMW, like every other make, there's some really good 'uns out there.

If you've got it, a lorry brought it.

Hello Mark, yup, got the e28 through the MOT last Monday, with no advisories. Just got to do an oil and water change and she's ready for the road. Then the Volvo will be going, cheap. I'll send you a few pics of the e28 on the email mate.

Probably won't be going to Gaydon, Mark. I have to work four weekends out of six. Very difficult to arrange meets.

Wasn't that bad, but not good enough to put anymore time and money into it, too many jobs that needed doing.

Didn't suit my driving style, I like to throw big cars about just like small cars, felt too heavy for any of that, just wasn't quick enough and I didn't like it enough.

Move on, try something else, hopefully I won't lose money on the next toy.

Always knew that there was a reason the generic name for a mutt is Rover LMAO

Tell me a large luxury car manufacturer whos product isn't flawed, Audi A8, ever driven and A4 its like that only podgier, Merc S class? take a luxury car and engineer out pleasure personality and charm, Jaguar engineer out the quality and Bingo! Lexus,,,AKA toyota,,'nuff said then
Bentley, Trust me on this they rot like a 70's Datsun I am so sorry to say

So the BMW has faults too? by heck it does but a good e23 is still a formidable weapon, e32 the best handling of the entire family the e38 the cybarite cufflink carriage, e65 makes captain Kirk look like Captain Caveman,
some twiggly turny wishbones? fine, Nikasil, yip, bad? No! not bad, just like us all getting older and harder to stay focused on through the rose tinted optical accessories????
