Yes, but Alpina then tell you to go to their WCUK agents, who just happen to be Sh*tners, notorious for showing a distinct lack of interest in getting parts for any UK Alpina car over four/five years old....

No different to any other BMW dealer then...
To be fair to Sytners, I've always found Ged Scanlon to be very helpful. I've spoken to him a few times about prospective 'classic' purchases and he seems to have a genuine interest. However, the other sales guy treated me like a ignorant pest when he realised I was enquiring about a 15 year old motor.

One person's help does not make the whole organisation helpful.
We should really approach Alpina direct.

However you can buy direct from Alpina who are happy to deal with you in person. The larger items need to be shipped to a dealer these days, but apart from that I've always found them quite helpful. Walloth and Nesch are now collecting a lot of Alpina parts from them, as parts will start to dry, especially since Alpina are now clearing their old stock out to make way for the recent stuff!

Unfortunatley Ged has now left Sytners, which leaves us in a bit of a quandry. But there is hope, Andy Douglas who now runs the Alpina section of the Car Club does have some copies of the records of the cars converted by Sytners, not an exhaustive list but its a start, and there is also an independent list of all e28's produced (wether they be a B9 or B10) so all is not lost. A call to Sytner in Leicester wouldn't be a bad thing either as I have heard that they are a little more approachable than the Nottingham branch.

I really should check out my 'local' BMW dealer. John Clark BMW have a branch in Aberdeen and Dundee. The one in Dundee is an 'official' Alpina distributor and even display the Alpina signage. I've never understood this as I thought Sytner were the only one. Are there any others?
I'm gutted to hear that Ged has gone though.

John Clark were a licensed 'dealer' that catered for the Scottish region, parts were shipped from Sytners and assembled at John Clarks premises. Now of course, you can order an Alpina from any dealer!
