Rubberknees - I have sourced Polaris front wings for your 732i

AG - I have sourced rear wings for your B10. I have a back bumper which you have have free if you want it. could serve as a stand in while you search the world for a clean e23 rear bumper.

Tony's dismantling project is progressing well. his '85 e23 will soon be completely gutted.

let me know if any interest.

the SS back bumper is stove in but not rusty. I think I've found a really good one, and it comes with the side pieces. not cheap though

yeah, "stove in" means its taken a whack. I had not noticed this until last week as its pushed in evenly across the full length of the bumper.

I also have undamaged side bits for the bumper.

Funny you should mention colour coding of the apron, as this is exactly what I intend to ask my mech to do before he fits the replacement unit I have found. e23's look great with body colour rear aprons IMO.

Do you also fix 'pooters? I have just wrecked my one and it needs TLC. may need a new O/S loading. XP probably.

Hi Philip, on Wendys pooter while mine defrags and scans itself. Would be interested in wing, how much and how do you want to work it? I can send you a cheque and wait till we can meet if thats ok?

Still sorting radio/aerial wiring, getting there slowly in amongst other things (Wendys birthday Sunday).  Got to take steering wheel off to check instrument cluster properly if speedo still misbehaving, what other s/wheels will fit without adaptor?

Forgot to have a look at your wooden one while we were down with you, how are you getting on with it? Does it feel right?

Wendy visiting friend tomorrow so hoping to spend all day on cars, misread 528 MoT, got to get that ready quickly!

Mark - Sat will be great. no word on the S/S as yet. no doubt much work has been done this week.

Ian - the Polaris wing is owned by a chap called Tony. he's in Erith. he's breaking a Polaris 735i and the paint & panels are in super cond. I can give you his phone # if you want to haggle the price. he's asking £60 a wing. try a haggle. I can collect on your behalf and store them till we meet up.

there are two types of 3 spoke BMW leather sport steering wheels for e23 plus other makes of wheel, some with a built in boss. keep checking ebay.

wooden wheel to early to say but so far i LOVE it. much nicer to grip than I expected.

Ok Philip, can you pm me Tony's contact details, would prefer a metal wing. Whats the usual going rate, both you and tetley said £60 steep.

Will only E23 BMW steering wheels fit? there's still an E32 locally, not sure what sort of wheel on it. May get a wooden one in time if yours that nice, what make/model was it and I'll have a look in catalogues.

£60 for a mint wing that bolts straight on?

That's a cheap way out.

Try a new one at @£200 and £150 to paint it.

And then the new paint doesn't match..............
It be black, hairy and I be afraid of it!

Metallic paint a pain to match, but a wing off another car will have had different weathering so either way whole car will likely need T-cutting, one of the pleasures of owning and running "oldies", lol

Ok Mark, why? they make a T-cut for metallic paint, at worst I'dve thought the panel would need re-laquering?

IMO one should forget what other people say, and negotiate your own deal with tony. Personally, I would pay £60 for a totally rust-free unbent Polaris E23 series II wing for the reasons spelled out by Ady in his post below. I only meant to imply that you could have a little friendly haggle with Tony. I did not mean to imply that his prices are way OTT. after all, each person has his own opinions of how much to pay for used bits. let me know your thoughts.

E23's and E24's and E28's built up to Aug '85 have co**** spline steering columns. BMW's built from Sep '85 and all E30's have fine splines. for this reason you cannot fit an e32 wheel to an e23.

AFAIK you must get an e23 wheel. I tried to fit an E24/e28 co**** splined sport wheel to an e23 but the hub depth was wrong & it would not push down onto the hub far enough to operate the horn

my wood rim wheel is a Raid item. I bought it because I already had a Raid boss to match.

my other e23 has a momo wheel which are plentiful on ebay. you neeed momo boss # 157 for e23 fitment. momo bosses are available new or used via fleabay. I paid £15 for a brand new 157 hub from an ebay seller in germany. the wheel cost £5 from UK fleabay.
