I agree with Tetley, check those roof drains, front & rear of the sunroof runners.

blocked roof drain caused mammoth leaks in my old 735 EX.

leaks can also come from other sources like rear screen, door seal, plastic membrane behind door card to name but three.

has it always leaked or only just started?

If I remember rightly Mark, there's 4 drainholes, one in each corner of the sunroof opening. I used an un-ravelled wire coathanger to clear mine when I had the e23.
If you've got it, a lorry brought it.

There are drain tubes that run down the rear quarter panel and exit somewhere near the trailing edge of the door apeture behind the sill - I saw them when my sill was replaced (e23 735).

Still wet. I thinks With help from our Friends over sea's that the water is coming through the rear lights and the rust howl and areal in the back and finding its way around to the foot wells, it is going to be a pricey job to fix all that as the back window needs to come out poxey rust

fixing that rear end rust is a must if you intend to keep & cherish the RB.

My first E23 an X regd 728i sharknose was ruined by rust around the front & rear screens

it was a low mileage cared for car, superb interior, perfect engine & box. but totally ruined by rust. such a shame. VRK 43X Rest in Peace  I used to attend various events at Brands in my 728i, around 1992/93. happy days
