i read an article in a BMW mag. A chap converted his 325i e30 to an Air Mass Meter and reported worthwhile gains in power/mpg.
I suggest you start a topic in the General Tech forum asking the gurus to fill us in.

If it is done as a block i.e. from air filter to exhaust gas sensor theoretically its easy (If it can be done on a 1964 American V8 to run a 2002 EFI system,,) it will require every component from say an M52 motor, with loom, thats the hard bit I wager.
If you know a good autospark to run the cables an M30 will function the exact same as an M52 it still has six cylinders and a fuel air ratio.
Want to do some research guys?

I could try to swap the unit from the M52 in my 328 with the one in my 7.... but I think I'd end up with two cars off the road
