Eh gentlemen,
From what I have seen it's all copy and paste from other legitimate sites and is not that brill to operate if you have a slower system.
As one of the most minority interest cars it seems to be getting a warped sense of interest Why people will not work together to create accurate new relevant topics on a couple of top notch sites like this is beyond me?
Everyone wants to re-invent the wheel I suppose

Im going to add my own thoughts on this (if I may)
* Here at work I need to work off an 800 * 600 pixel resolution. Your site doesn't fit this.
* on the main page (after the various (& possibly unnecessary splash screens), get rid of the world news and the clock. I have a clock on my arm and also on my screen. If I wanted breaking news Id go to a news website.
* I guess also get rid of the calendar. Maybe whenb the site becomes busier you could have a BMW 7 events listing calendar but at the moment it is just an unnecessary filler
* a number of images have white pixelated edges which don't look good against the dark background. e.g

It will, in time, presumably be a good site but the need to entice people to return isn't fully there IMO. The portal idea is good (although Im not really familiar with MKPortal. However, I am in the process of doing something similar with some domains I recently registered:-
www.bmwe60.com & www.bmwe60.net
www.bmwe81.com & www.bmwe81.net
and www.bmwe90.net

kbannon of course you can add your own thoughts, and thanks for doing so

So here ya go

We appreciate that some users need to operate @ 800x600, however the industry std is now 1024x768 and hence why our site is optimised for this resolution.
Having said that we aim to please everyone ! So whilst browsing you can close each of the sidebars by clicking the >> below the top menubar allowing you to view just the forum in 800 x 600 (there is also an option in your cp to turn off these options permanently).
Its the old adage of 90% of software users using 10% of the functions.

I appreciate you comments on the images & will get my brush out.

Regards enticing people to return, this is a completely new venture.

Good luch with the millionaire hopes.
P.S Dont forget me

P.P.S    Our doors are open to EVERYONE!!!!!!!

Tony,

don't ditch the World News section unless everyone else hates it - it keeps BMW chaps in touch with the real world & saves having to log onto BBC News site.

is the forum taking off?

who's hosting the site servers?, I reckon you've got the mainframe in your house! must cost a bomb to have all the latest screen features etc. looks like a lotta work's gone into it.

thx Mark & Phil

Its there to be used, we hope you all find something useful.

We were a bit thin on the ground on E23 stuff. Still got a couple of hard drives to search !

Personally the news is useful to me, and it doubles up as a safety shield when checking bmw posts in the office.

Phil I shall pm rubberkneess  later and  compliment him on a fine car

Thx all

Tony,

have you posted a link on John's 5er board?

http://forum.bmw5.co.uk/

I think Rubberknees50 is Ian's board handle - he's not been on-line recently - Telewest Troubles

Well as you correctly asses I am an admin on another site and had the decency not to promote the "other site" here until I had relevant permissions on this site. It's just a common decency even though I have a track record of over 100 posts in the last three years here. Just MHO though.
If though you have gained permission in this respect my apologies. Good luck on the new site.

On the fifth attempt.  I knew Mr Holley was there before me so I didn't even attempt the "Chas" login...

I don't think the software is keen on the space character within logins..
