After having all PC's & Networks shut down for half the day due to a viral problem, here's the mail we received from IT....

Hi everyone,

Please be advised that the problems with the virus attack are now solved:

You can now start-up your pc and log-on to the network.

Now, it’s not that I'm ungrateful or anything but as I'd logged off and shut down the PC as directed, I wasn't exactly in a position to read the mail they'd sent out…..

These boys n girls need to get out more methinks

The world is a tragedy to those who feel, but a comedy to those who think.

Derek,

Perhaps I'm missing something here, but if you had logged off and shut down your PC, how do know they sent you an email?

Simon - in IT!

Yup, sounds about right. Oh sorry, when you said everyone, I thought you meant the workers, not us manager types that are busy checking our shares and idling away the hours on BMW related sites.

Have we met before then?????

Probably, but you sound just like a typical user, with whom I deal day in and day out - wish they wouldn't all keep phoning in and interrupting me from my real work.....!

Very similar - they're called forums & MSN!

p.s. I note you've pressed your escape key. Have you found your "any key" yet?

Our IT dept are a bunch of Nazis!

They made us all this rather naff screen saver a few years back so I of course just moved the timer to 3 hours so it would never come on but what really gets me is that they now insist on having this gawd awful wallpaper now that is all arty farty soft focus bo!!ok$.  I had this as my wallpaper and I much prefer it but not any longer!

My beautiful engine bay gone for ever from my desktop.

If Doctor Seuss was in IT Support

If a Packet Hits a pocket on a socket on a port,
and the bus is interrupted as a very last resort,
and the address of the memory makes your floppy disk abort,
then the socket packet pocket has an error to report.

If your cursor finds a menu item followed by a dash,
and the double-clicking icon puts your window in the trash,
and your data is corrupted 'cause the index doesn't hash,
then the situation's hopeless and your systems gonna crash!

If the label on the cable on the table at your house,
says the network is connected to the button on your mouse,
but your packets want to tunnel on another protocol,
that's repeatedly rejected by the printer down the hall,
and your screen is all distorted by the side effects of gauss,
so your icons in the window are as wavy as a souse,
then you may as well reboot and go out with a bang,
'cause as sure as I'm a poet, the sucker's gonna hang!

When the copy of your floppy's getting sloppy on the disk,
and the microcode instructions cause unnecessary risk,
then you have to flash your memory and you'll want to RAM your ROM. Quickly turn off the computer and be sure to tell your mom.
