Hi all,

I have purchased a chip off EBay that plugs into the AIT sensor & "allegedly" fools the EMS into pulling more air in helping breathing & gives more power etc? Should I be  or  ?

If I have been a clown, please feel free to tell me so, and I will not bother installing!

If not (!?) would really appreciate it if anyone could tell me which 2 pins of the 4 pins on the AIT cable are not powered? They are numbered 1,2,3,4, but can't find anywhere which is sensor & which are power....

I have a 1999 E36 323i coupe.

Would appreciate any help, or to be told not to bother!

Thanks

Dave

I presume you have just bought a resistor... although I could be wrong.
The way these things work is not by pulling more air in, but by fooling
the ecu into thinking the air is cooler or hotter than it actually is-
meaning it is more or less dense than the ecu thinks.

Now, I don't know much about the 323, but I assume like most cars it will
run slightly rich as a safety feature and to keep cylinder temps lower (it's
these tollerances that superchips take advantage of, along with timing),
by fooling the ecu into thinking the air is less dense than it is, it will lean
off the mixture theoretically giving you more power- to a point.

I come from a turbo'd background ad I have a feeling I've got my cooler
and hotter back to front. But you get the general idea. Feel free to correct
me if i'm wrong all you technical sorts
