Chaps

I'm doing a clean out of the house at the moment and I have a stack about 2 feet tall of car mags from the last year or two.  Mainly "Car" and "Top Gear" but theres one or two Evo's there.

They are going in the bin, but if anyone wanted I could bring them to Mondello or if anyone collects these mags and needs a specific issue I can check and get back.

Let me know soon.......the wife is adamant they have to go :)

Edition 001 of EVO is fetching stg100+ on Ebay, Mick. Early ones fetch good money too.

I've a fairly extensive collection of mags (incl a full EVO collection ); what era are the CAR mags from?

OPPS! just re-read and it says they're from the last year or two only.

I've tried to ebay mags, but its almost impossible as the postage price adds so much. Sometimes get lucky, but generally not worth it for recent stuff.
And so says Jimbob.

Lads

I can't be ****d with eBay......they aren't particularly collectible......2003 onwards only (i do a clear out every year or two) so if no-one wants them they are going in the green bin.

Just thought I would check on the off chance......myself I actually love reading old editions.....even about cars I have no interest in......but we are doing a clear out which requires sacrifices on both parts (I am sure you guys know what I'm talking about) so they have to go.

I know indeed!! I'm a bit of a hoarder.. Autocar is a real pain as in a few years you've a whole bookself gone! I've mags from 82 / 83 @ home in the attic . My mum threw out my 87 to 94 collection of Autocar (grrr but twas probably the right thing to do), and I've Performance Car/EVO from 95 onward, and a blast of oddities through the years aswell. They're such a source of reference material though, I can't bring myself to chuck any! Tis mint reading about the 'new Ford XR3, or the 1st test of the E30 325i Touring etc etc

I thought my dad was bad lol, boxes of old car mags in the cellar from the 70's and 80's (Practial Motorist etc). had a look through them a while back when I wanted info on my old E30, and a few others I was looking at at the time.

I was only 5yrs old when some of these mags were printed! Got a blast of them from a divorced woman I worked with who got fed up of the Ex's collection gathering dust. Brought me in boxes of them!

The long term tests in those days were mad: not only did Autocar run a MkI Golf diesel for 60k, but the tests on cars made mention of where rust was appearing around guttering etc.. on cars that only had 20k on them and 18 months old! How things have changed.. well sort of: even though they had the rust sorted by the mid 90s, how many Fiat Tipo/Tempras do you see about? None!

Mick,

If you want to give your magazines to a good home, I would be interested. How much would you want for them?

I got a fiat tempra as a trade in, and it wasnt old at the time, drove it to scrappy and watched them crush it, even they didnt want to keep it for spares.

Now there's a fellow in South Africa who inherited  about 30 years worth of car mags, took him almost 2 years of cutting and filing every car test as well as the old ads, cross-indexed the whole lot on his computer and now makes a tidy sum as reference suppier to old car tests!!Advertising /marketing department/journo/groupie somewhere wants a copy of an ad or car test, he'll scan it and e-mail it and if you will kindly sign the credit card transfer for the amount (the older the more expensive)Has now increased his collection back to pre-2nd world war

regards

Sorry Andy and to anyone else who actually got this impression.

I am giving them away.  Gratis.  Free.  No Charge.

Otherwise they are going to magazine heaven.

Cheers

Mick,

If you happened to have evo edition 16 or 17 in the pile I'd be more than happy to relieve you of the pile. I'll even collect if that suits you (and keeps the wife happy)

I know a bit irrelevent

Was in Montreal year ago and guy was selling vintage Playboys.

Got July 1971 month of my birthday for 20 canadian think about 13yoyos.

Great laugh to look at the ads. Triumph Dolomites and Hi Fi systems were like size of dishwashers.
