yes, at www.thealpinaregister.com but theres no link to the car club in any way, seeing at its a seperate one hosted by fastsaloons.com

just a thought for new members who join the club who possibly have an alpina might expect to see a section in the official club forum for them as well as the forthcoming relaunch of the official club register

Found on thealpinaregister.com:

"It is also planned to be used for the relaunch of the BMW Car Club Alpina Register which has the possibilities of being one of (if not the) biggest registers in the club. It is also Alpina's 40th anniversary and we will have some support from Sytner Nottingham as well as published press coverage. "

I doubt it, Alpina are a separate tuning company same goes for Hartge, ACS etc. Whereas the M-Power cars are done in-house by BMW.

Unless I stand to be corrected of course.

I think you have a point Stephen, as a thickie I recognise Alpina as a marque of BMW....even if I'm wrong, and I recognise it above hartage or acs etc.

Best Wishes

Nigel

in my opinion

alpina is bespoke - they take standard shells to which they fit their own engines, interiors, suspension and brakes to their own specifications, they are a car maker in their own right

hartge specialise in taking standard engines and squeeze them into engine bays where they were never intended to go

ac schnitzer is more frippery - wheels, spoilers, pedals etc.

So now that is currently requests for a 1 series forum and an Alpina forum.
WRT the Alpina forum:-
* is there an Alpina register with the club?
* what would be discussed within this register forum?

yes, there was an official alpina register within the club which is due to be relaunched at the end of october

basically, like the m-power forum and all the other technical forums, it will be for owners/prospective owners of alpina cars to ask technical questions and buying questions.

spoken like an alpina man..... I would say ACS tuning was easily on par with Herr Hartge et al and more superior in forced induction.

Their tuning is BMW approved....

Here is my suggestion

How about a Motorsport Forum?

For those with BMW competition cars, for discussions on Formula BMW, the WTC, Kumho, SELOC etc. Maybe even F1

Also BMW club members who participate in motorsport in non BMW cars could also contribute (why do I put that in? I hillclimb a FIAT Ritmo!!!)

Also people with competition car projects could exchange advice.

Thanks

How about having a forum for all BMW based uprated cars such as Alpina, ACS, Hamann, etc.?  If it gets a lot of attraction from a particular group, ie Alpina, then set up an individual forum for that group.

The trouble with an Alpina forum is that they are so rare that who would use it? How many regular users of this site drive Alpinas?

I bet ther isn't more than half a dozen, although they probably out number the 8 series owners...

Alpina are actually classified as a Manufacturer and all Alpina's are given there own Vin numbers with the original BMW number being scratched out
