Lads by way of update, was out at the exhaust fitting on saturday and got a chance to check out Martins car which has a 50% tint.  I reckon the colour would work great on the carbon black but he is thinking of changing due to poor visibility at night.

Therefore something in the order of 70-75% (available light) would seem sensible.

Just wondering though with all this Ivor Callely crap, what exactly is the legal limit here (if any) or does anyone have a clue what level it will go to in the future?

Mick

Mikerd4 you may be surprised to learn that LLumar also has Thatcham Q rating for its security film.  In fact in the Thatcham Tests it performed significantly better than the Pentagon SupaGlass.

Both products are as good, and do what they are supposed to.  Just make sure you stay legal on the front windows

Just as a warning supaglass cant be done on all cars, mainly windowless coupes were the prtotection is a bit useless anyhow as the window can be "peeled" back.

Richard at pentagon is a top bloke.

Also he wont fit midnight tint to the front windows as its ilegal

I'm about to get some tints on my new car and I've done a fair bit of research.

Pal of mone just had his 330 done by Pentagon and they did a top job. http://www.pentagon-eire.com/

I've decided to go with them, they do different grades of tinting from a light smoke through to midnight.

As well as that, for a few quid more you can get 'SupaGlass' which makes it harder for people to break your windows.

Currently: E90 330d Sport

Previously: X5 3.0i Sport, E46 M3, E46 318ci,E30 318is.

Sparks car looks fantastic with the tints.  I think that would look great on the Carbon Black.

You see Mike that Tourer is exactly the type of look I don't want.  I think its because its a silver car, that the contrast is just too great.

But this Carbon Black M3 had dark tints and it just seemed so natural........I think it works better on dark cars.

I got mine in vision in walkinstown €220 I think. I have the medium tint and I have to say I love them it changes the whole look of the car. the security of being able to carry gear around in the back of the car without it being seen is great. But as everyone else has said they do take a bit of getting use to at night as it can be hard to see pedestrians or a cyclist, so you do have to take care while driving. Other than than that I would go for it.

security film over the tint???

I know that pentagon are the only company who are insurance approved in the uk for their film, as most other places use earth quake tint from a building!

Same as mine on this mini

Mick I have it on my car and it changed the look of my car immediatly. I was of the same perception as you and was extreamlly wary of having the drug dealer look and compleatlly ruining the look of the car. But im delighted. It takes a little while to get used to less light comming into the cabin but that passes. I also have the security film over my tints which stops the glass being smashed to pieces and holds it in place. BM glass coatings in Northwest buisness park, blanch, 01 8209008, my e46 ci cost 280.00 and was compleated in 1/2 a day. I work in Finglas Mick and if you want to drive my car with the tints just to be sure you are comfortable with the all round vision inside the car just give me a shout, i would be glad to help.
