   The fuel gauge and rev counter probs are probably a result of too low power/voltage. That drives the controls crazy.
If you have rechanrged the battery completely and also checked the voltage when engine is running, that prob should go away.
Reg. Sat Nav: did you check in the owners manual how to reset it? I do not know which system you have installed. If you need owners manuals, see on my website below, go to e38.org link and there select E38 and scroll down to bottom. All for download there.

	car 740i 1998 left lights on aa tried to jump start no good but started after charging, however i have no fuel gauge or rev counter. The display (vdu)in the dashboard does not work. My sat nav only talks to me in german ntried rebooting disc but no better can anyone help please
