I had a close call coming into Leeds on the M 621 last night. A number of youths were on one of the bridges throwing rocks and bricks at cars as they passed underneath. I swerved to avoid some of the debris but hit a rock which brought the tyre off the rim. Another driver got a puncture and a third car was actually hit. No one has been caught to answer for this.

Has anyone got a 7JX16 7 spoke alloy for a 2001 320i SE for sale?

Keep a good look out as you pass under bridges!

Thank you for your concerns and comments. Half an hour on the phone this morning has got me sorted. Got a good discount on a new wheel and the tyre is OK. Tracking also checked and the lad who did the job said that he would be surprised if it had needed adjusting.Said BMW's will '...take a real belt before anything needs seeing to.' I don't think this is a theory that needs testing though!

I couldn't agree more!!!

Glad there wasn't more serious damage done, little ****

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with a girl who saw Ferris pass-out at 31 Flavours last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

The worst thing is us motorists have cameras pointing at us from every direction, too catch us out where is our protection.

people have been killed from bricks, rocks ect being thrown from bridges

on a lighter note glad you are ok Revy320

I was invited to make a statement to the police the other day and they said they had some info. that may lead to an arrest. Both the police and Highways Agency have been concerned and helpful and are rightfully treating the incident as very serious.

glad you're ok first up, I agree with the sentiments above but I think the reason motorists have so many cameras pointed at us is that far more people have been killed by cars handled recklessly than by bricks thrown recklessly.

I'm not particularly looking for a flaming but thought I'd point this out as I've (personally) had a lot more damage done to me and my car(s) by ****s behind the wheels of other vehicles than by ****s stood on bridges.

Glad you're OK and that you got the wheel replaced without excessive wedge

What happened to you is really awful. But who's going to pay for the damage? Hopefully the police will sort matter soon?!?

Last update everyone. A youth 'known to the police' has been arrested, charged and admitted the offences against the vehicles involved. Court case this week. Thanks for all your messages of support.

Glad the toe rag's been apprehended (if it was him and he wasn';t just doing a deal to clean up the crime stats - :cynicmodeoff:).

Wonder what he'll get for the misdemeanour?  Any chance of knowing when it's on, in which court, so we can get his name and address?

Have just received notification that I will receive £75 compensation as a result of the court case. Pleased to have received something, but mystified as to why I should still be out of pocket for a crime against my property. Surely I should have been fully reimbursed - or is this too much to expect from our legal system?
