Is there any diferenence between the 3.5 engine in the 635 highline than in a e32 735 or an e34 535 ?

The Highline used the late version of the M30 (220bhp vs. 218bhp). So did the E34 but this was detuned to 211bhp, probably in an attempt to stop it being faster than the 6 or 7.

If you're looking for a replacement engine for your 6 then don't bother with the E34 motor. The sump is different & so are the engine mounts.

Pretty sure the E32 engine drops straight in.

Don't spend a fortune as BMW will supply a new engine for around £2k.

Personal opinion - I'm on my 4th Beemer, and run 3 at present, including 6 of course; and though main dealer are okay on spares, they are very much my last resort. As to servicing and repairs . . . . well, err, I believe the expression is "don't get me started". ;-)
