No I dont think it has as the crack is at the end of the head where the camshaft fits.

Car is still here in the garage laying dorment. I Have found what I have been told is a good 735 engine with reconned head. Just haven't found anyone to fit the complete engine yet though. I presume the engine will go straight in to replace the 3.0 with no difference in exhaust or ancilleries etc. etc.

Swaps straight over but you'll need the ECU as well.

"patrick, i thought that i had repied to this guy, i do remember receiving his email about fitting an engine to an old 7 series, i have none of his details on file so could you please contact him and i shall get in touch, i don't know if i will have time to look at his car i am stacked out with some very big long term jobs at the moment and i am away on holiday soon for 2 weeks.
