I have just bought fibre optic angel eye rings for my e39. All that comes with them is the 4 rings and the 2 fibre optic strands, there was no instructions and I cannot for the life of me figure out how they are fitted. There is no obvious way, at the end of the fibre optic strands the 5 strands come into 1 aliminum fitting that looks like it should fit into something. I am assuming it somehow gets attached to the sidelights and draws light from the bulb that in turn goes down the optic to illuminate the rings. But how is another matter. I purchased these on e bay from Finland so returning is a problem.

Please can anyone help?

http://www.uucmotorwerks.com/html_product/styling/demon/E36_DDE.pdf shows you the E36 install which may help.

I wasn't aware the 5 series lights lent themselves to this conversion... most E39 owners have converted using the Hella kit I think.

There is a company called Euro Car Parts which do the Angel Eyes Kit. The price is I think £300. This company is spread out through the country. I know that the have 22 branches. I have been thinking about it myself and showed the brochure to a person who is experienced in this kind of work. I do not know how it will look like but they told me that this was manufactured by the same company who produces the original lights. The tel for the Head Office is 0208 956 5000.( Wembley). The website is eurocarparts.com. I hope that is of some help.

The Eurocarparts units are different. They are complete replacement units and as such, relatively easy to fit. The kit djdelboy is talking about involves dismalntling the OEM units and guddling the fibre optics in. As I say, I hadn't seen that type of kit for the E39 before...

From what I understand you just get a full OEM quality kit which, once fitted looks exactly the same as the facelift E39, so if you like that look, you'll be happy.

There was an article on it in a Total BMW not so long ago. May be well worth your while getting that back issue... I remember there being issues relating to xenon lights or some such... if I get the chance I'll take a butchers this evening.
