Hi lads.

Have been a bit of a stranger to the site in recent months. Sold my e30 318is a few months ago, and got (I know ye are going to hate me) a Nissan 200sx S13. Have found myself lately though, wanting and drooling over e34's. So I have decided to sell the old rice rocket and go back to the style and comfort of the old BM's.

My question is,

Does anyone know of any good condition, late model as in 1993, e34 525's for sale?, preferably black but antracide or white would be good too. Have grown very fond of the leather interior so that i had in the e30 and 200sx, so i'd have to have that also

I know i'm being like a spoilt picky brat with all my requirements but it's what I really want

Any help or links to sites where to look would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Graham

Graham,

I have a friend that is a car dealer in Dublin. He has just sourced me a '95 E34 touring with 50k miles on it and would be able to fond you something.

PM me for details.

I've been looking at a few newer 525 E34s myself... There is a great selection in England and the VRT is very low. Check Autotrader.co.uk.

Let us know how you get on!

The lad I sold my '92 E34 525i 24v to is thinking about moving it on. There'd be a few bits to be done to get it right (there was a bad earth that was causing a drain, & a couple of bushes that might have been sorted by now), but nowt mechanical at all, cos I got all that sorted before, & it's only done 5-6k since then. Tis metallic black with grey leather, & 17" Alpinas I fitted new.. And tis a real hoot around a circuit. Pictures are on the club website in members galleries.

@Andy Butler; Wouldn,t mind a touring either. Love them. What I want really is listed above. Low mileage, good condition, black (preferably), leather, will pay around €6k.

@denishogan; thanks a lot bud Will do.

@T.J.; Pm sent

@Ben O'Brien; Thanks for the offer, but I don't think I could jump from the rice rocket to a diesel. Would be way too much of a change

I know you would prefer a black one... but how about this? Have a look at the blue 525i Sport. No idea what mileage, but it looks very clean.

Thanks Denis. That is savage. Not bad money either. The dark blue is a nice colour alright. Trying to sell the 200sx at the moment, so when that goes I can buy. Wonder if they would swap for the 200sx, lol Would there be extra VRT to pay on the sport or are they that rare enought that they are not listed?

Thanks a lot again lads.

Yeah, that 525 is nice and close to Stansted (30 mins away) and all... it would be a handy trip if it is as good as it looks!

I dunno if they would charge more VRT for a sport... d'father went to clear d'mothers 328i Cab last week - the revenue people asked to inspect the car so that they could come up with a price for the VRT (we thought it was just a case of paying rate quoted on ros.ie) - that caused a bit of a panic because the car has loads of extras. For a finish, the revenue people were dead from admiring the car and just asked my father what he was quoted on the site... they seemed to be very relaxed about all the extras! I can't imagine that they'd stick you for bringing in a sport instead of an SE.

I was talking to a lad there last year about a Skyline GTS-T (R33, I think) he brought in from Japan... he rang the revenue comms office and said that he couldn't get a quote for his car on ros.ie - they said they didn't know of any model called a GTS-T and let him off with a VRT bill of a few hundred euro (very low).

I'd say give the rev comms office a call... whats the worst that can happen?!?

Good luck selling the 200sx!

Have cleared 2 cars now myself. The revenue people are very relaxed, they just go along with what the computer tells them. Will give them a buzz alright, an old sport would be nice

Cheers for the help Denis. Just got to find a victim for the purple fun bus now.

For a '95 e34 with 70k miles (just used that in example) there is only €13 difference between SE and Sport (Sport being dearer - €514).

Once a car gets past a couple of years old the VRT people don't seem to know or care about options.

I may get to test that for a newer car in the next couple of weeks as a deal may be in the offing for a well dressed 330i Sport Conv for my sister (I've done the brotherly thing and offered to collect it!).

Now: BMW 523i SE '00, 318i SE - e91 '07, 325i Coupe '93.

Prev:
e46 328i SE Touring, 330Ci, 318Ci.
e39 523i SE.
e36 325i Coupe *2, 323i SE, 316iSE.
e30 325iSE 2dr, 320i Conv, 320i 2dr, 316i.

Mileage doesn't seem to matter at this age as regards VRT.  That's why I try to find very low milers for the toy (e.g. 325i).  Even if you pay top money for a historied minter in the UK it strikes me as remarkable value for money on the road here.

Mind you, it pays to keep an eye on the VRT figures.  After I brought the last e30 over a couple of years ago the VRT for them went up fairly significantly - especially for the Sport.  On the other hand, an e36 328i Sport coupe attracts less VRT than a regular 328i coupe.

Just a follow on to the question of extras above.  I picked up a '05 330Ci Sport Conv auto for my sister last weekend and brought it back.  I cleared it for VRT today and they didn't pick up on any of the options fitted (there were plenty of obvious ones like leather, sat/nav, etc.).

They were more interested in trying to stiff her for VAT and that might have distracted them (2 different people looked at it) from the options.  The options would add about €15k to the current list price.

Now: BMW 523i SE '00, 318i SE - e91 '07, 325i Coupe '93.

Prev:
e46 328i SE Touring, 330Ci, 318Ci.
