I spent an hour on the phone yesterday talking with the events manager of Shakespear Raceway formally Avon Raceway. My plan was to feel the way for running an event their as Brooklands was a little small for last years event. My intention was to get a date late in the year towards the end of September / begining of October. I have been offered Both Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th October. On Sunday 15th they are running a large run what you brung German Cars day and we can have a large BMW presents on this day, plus we can have the site to ourselfs the day before. We have a fully equipped Standing quarter mile and they can arrange anything from driving challenges to drifting to 0-60's to 100 - 0's braking competitions. There are camping facilities, hotels and bars on site. I would like to book one if not both days for a large celebration of BMW's and use this as the day to celebrate the E24's 30th Birthday and the 2002's 40th. My question to you all is to give me some feedback on what you want. Does a 2 day event interest you. What do you want to do with your cars. My biggest interest is to get owners using them in a safe environment as well as the polishing that comes with any show. Please be open with your feedback James |

Now, see, this is really interesting, 'cause now I could see if the 265/17s on the rear really are for a purpose.

Sounds good to me James. I remember the 2 day Octoberfest at Silverstone a few years back, and that was a reat day. As I remember there we had the tack for the whole weekend, and the other stuff just went on within the confines. Of course that would be hideously expensive now, but your idea sounds cool. The 2 days would be very different to each other, which would be a good thing, otherwise you end up with one just being a shadow of the other, and there being no point in making the effort to host both days. What's this 0-60 thing though? Your vulgar modern cars always need to prove something, don't they? There's a certain self assuredness that comes with age. The CSL may not be the fastest, but it doesn't care! Te he. Don't take offence on the above, I was only kidding. |

Its a great site, very big and the strip is very well run- I drag race my gsxr 1000 there quite a bit and even at the bulldog bash the waiting time was only 5 mins between runs. The run what you brung events are normally £25 entry (but you get £10 back when you give in your ticket on exit) and then £10 for unlimited runs. Now which one to take.... |

Sounds good James. I don't think the Sunday would interest me, but the Saturday sounds perfect. that weekend also coincides neatly with my Birthday on the 15th.

Thanks for the replies guys. Basically i am trying to guage whether to have a sharkfest on just the Sunday with the German Car show in attendance as well. Just the Saturday or have the Sturday for our event and then those that want to stay over and do the Sunday too can do the following days event to. Trying to have a big event for the 6's 30th Birthday. Since posting up i have had a chat with Richard Stern who organises events for the 02's and he has an amazing event for the 6 and 02's. BMW are going to back a birthday celebration in May when the touring cars come to Brands Hatch and are going to allow a 6 series and 02 cavalcade around the full circuit on race day. Discussions are in place and Richards is seeing what we can get away with. I have asked him if the sixes can tag along with this event whilst the 02's tag along with ours. This would potentially be a three day event if someone wanted to see practice, qualifying and race day. Have done this event in the past about 10 years ago and it's a cracker. Will let you know more when i have more. Both events camping is an option, but not necassery. |
