<SPAN =post>You know whats coming don't you? On Sunday, about 12pm, I thought I would try my electric roof on my 89 Motorsport cab, as it hasn't been put down in a few months [I've been told to keep the roof motor working over winter just to make sure everything ok etc]. It was quite mild so I knew the plastic window wasn't frozen, so with my mum in the drivers seat pushing the button, I watched as the roof started to fold away. I saw the fabric wasn't folding right so I helped it along its way but then it totally stopped due to the rear window staying rigid, I though if I give it a little push in the middle it will continue as normal, and as I did...CRAAAACK!!! The ****** plastic split. I now got a 15cm hole in the rear window. ****!!! Ok guys, what did I do wrong? How could I of prepared the screen for being folded away for the first time in a while, during these less than warm times? And more importantly, how much is it going to cost for a replacement? Its stitched in so I know its a big job - but please tell me it aint gonna cost an arm and a leg!!! And who can I trust to do the job? I don't wanna replace the whole roof as its in really good condition. I felt so sick when I heard it split...anyone else done it?</SPAN>

Sorry to hear this - I know exactly how tempremental these roofs are. The window was split on my E30 M3 convertible when I bought it. Had it done last year and it cost me 300. Most of the cost is in the labour due to it being sewn in. However..... it got worse. A week after getting the car back the electric hood stopped working and mechanical bit in the boot section sheered. Not sure if it was related, but the fact the guy had the roof off the week before makes me think. G

Where did you get that done mate? Just so I can get a price from them now? Though I bet your problem after you got it back was related to the roof coming off.
