Hi John,

I am a novice in car ownership of this type and have come into ownership of a 1981 E21 (x plate) 323i (manual). It is a beautiful car looks and body wise, with a full years MOT and taxed till April 06. The mileage is only 59,500 but does not have a service history with it. It does have however various MOT certificates for throughout its life so this confirms the mileage has not been tampered with. Its a 3 door coupe with alloys, original interior, electric sun blinds on rear window and all its original manuals etc.

How much do you think a car like this is worth as i want to sell it on to someone who will appreciate the car and not use it just to run to the shops like my wife.

All help appreciated. Thanks

Hi Pete,

It appears to me there is no rust in any of those places but maybe if you want to come and have a look at it (i have no idea about cars eyc - i just go with what my local garage tells me).  It just went through its MOT last week.  New petrol tank (small leak), new steering column, all new brake pipes.  There is a few minor things like i need to take it and get the balancing/tracking done due to the new steering column.  I would say the only real problem with this car is the interior, its all the original but its a bit bland and needs a good valet thats all.  I have made enquiries on a few BMW web sites and i a m getting a lot of interest with values running from 1200 to over 2k.

If you are getting offers of that sort of money you best snap it up

Hi

Drop me a line if want to sell it quick, e21 prices vary a lot, you do get more money in the south east than any were else, I sold my last 323i when i lived in newcastle on ebay no interest over 500 in newcastle, drove to my mates in london and readvertised a week later and sold for 1200. If you wait you will get good money, if you want to sell it quick ebay or the club ad's are probably the best.
