BMW used car warranty

   I spoke to a friend recently and he said that he thought that BMW UK are introducing a new type of warranty. It will affect owners who renew their used car warranty from January 2006. 
What the guy was saying is that BMW might be adding an excess of �100 to each and every claim made......plus reduce or delete some of the other items of cover. Taking into account how much these warranties cost every year this sounds like a scam. 
Anyone know anything about it? 
Can they legally  do this? For example, when I purchased my BM it came with a fairly watertight warranty and I was told that it could be renewed every year on that same basis. Is this misselling?
