We're running a Remapping day over on BMW-Driver.net in conjunction with Autoremap. Prices will be between €250 and €300 depending on numbers, normal price being €350.

It's looking likely that the event will be covered by Total BMW magazine, and will run over the 4th and 5th of March.

Anyone interested can add their name here - Remapping Day

Ken

I might pop down with the M3 for the day, although I won't go for the remap because I believe there are little gains to be had from it on whats already a fairly highly strung engine.  Have been meaning to set up on BMW-Driver.net but have been without broadband for the last 2 weeks.

Is the car put on a rolling road to show before and after results?

I would be interested having some problems logging on waiting for password back through email. Was only talking to autoremap the other day to get the car done , this is better and a little more discount if the numbers are up.

Question:

Should i get the sports air filter fitted before the remap. Will the remap results depend partially on the air intake.

If at a later stage i get the exhaust done will the remapping need tweaking

No, rolling road event is following a month later. Anyone who doesn't know their baseline figure and who wants exact gains should rr their car before hand.

Stupid question - if I have to bring my car to BMW at a later stage to get a problem sorted, could they inadvertantly reset everything that the remap changes?

Afaik - if your cars software gets overwritten by a dealer , Martin will have a copy of your custome remap, and can rewrite it to the car without any hassle. You're probably better off asking him though in case it works differently

It would involve them updating your software completely to wipe the remap by the way - I asked Joe Duffys to update my software once and they said it wasn't possible - in other words they're generally too lazy to do it.

Hi, I may welll be interested provided it will work on my car - a 94 525td? i was told by ttm with one of their chips the car would be producing 136bhp with one of their chips,up from 115bhp, i presume a re-map would give similar results?

Most lads who intend to chip or remap their cars will have had their cars put on the rolling road and there is nothing stopping those putting their cars on first and them getting the upgrade and going again to see the difference etc

Sorry boss but I disagree.

Im not an expert in this matter but I wouldnt get it done unless a rolling road session was involved. The reason for this is that something could go wrong with the remap which could leave your engine running too lean or too rich.

I accept that more often than not a re-chip or remap should go without a hitch but there might be that one time when something could go wrong. In that situation its usually too late when you find out!

You could get you car mapped without it being on a dyno and check the fuelling..... no probs.

I think pinching a few hp here and there is a bit abitrary. If you track your car, you'd want it mapped differently to say, the sunday b road driver. The hp involved is far less of a point than the performance envelope and behavior of the engine.

If I took my car to Mr Car-Mapper with his laptop and asked him to make it torquey and responsive in the mid range and it came back sharp and strong, I'd feel that I'd got my money's worth.

Well this event isn't for you then! There are hundreds of people in the UK who've had the same remap done by these guys, and I've heard of no disasters. Any changes done are within the manufacturers limitations. If it goes wrong, its reset to factory spec. You'll pay at least €700 more to have it done somewhere with the RR or you can pay €60 before and after with Martin in Westward, I know where I'd rather spend my cash.

Either way, I'm more interested in the drivability of my car than peak figures, but having dynoed my car at stock, and after each additional mod, I will be able to get the exact gains from the process.

This is not a stupid question at all I will have a copy of the file from your car, if the main stealer resets the Ecu I will upload the file again for you at no cost.

I don't have a rolling  road facility and if I did I would have to charge a lot more money than I am.

We will be holding a rolling road event shortly after the remap day so anyone that wants to confirm Bhp increases can do so.

Jayson has a very good rep in this forum and has recently done a RR day in the UK and his remaps performed best over most other tuners

check out some of his results here

Thanks for confirming that, Martin.  I had been meaning to get back to you before, but have been crazy busy; getting out of Galway hasn't been easy!
