Hi all, my first post!

The service indicator on my '96 E38 735i doesn't light up after starting the engine. The rest of the dashboard seems to be fine. Read somewhere that the service indicator has a battery which might need replacing. Is that it? If so, anyone know how to do that and what battery is required?

Related question: with the service indicator lights down, will there be a separate warning on the on-board computer when the service indicator orange light comes on? I can't remember what happens - I always have the car serviced when the orange light comes on first

Welcome to the forum unkel.
Is your problem like this one?
I have a reset tool if you want to check yours.
As for the OBC - I don't know.

Yeah makes sense, it's probably a bulb. The car is due a service soon anyway (about 4 / 6 weeks ago I went from 2 greens down to 1), so I'll have the lads take a look at it

Thanks for the reply, K :)

They use LEDs in the SI board rather than bulbs AFAIK.

Ah of course. Probably a battery then as I read somewhere on the web. I doubt if all the LEDs stopped working at the same time for any other reason
