im looking at buying a 318ci sport coupe on a 53plate,  13k on the clock, leather interior and 18inch alloys.

Is this a good buy,

is a 318ci underpowerd

what are the main problem with these cars?

thanks for any replies in advance

you will soon get bored of 318 power .but then again it all depends on what sort of power you want and are used too .go for a 6 cylinder bmw ie 320 or above if you want to enjoy the ownership

if your not in to car for its performance then a 318 ci will suit you well

and it will give you many years of trouble free motoring[well on a 53 plate that is]

happy driving

its a dogs world out there

The 318 is very frugal and performance wise is not discracefull, but then again it's not quick either. The six cylinders sound better and go a lot quicker, but will use more fuel although you can exspect 30mpg from these. Insurance wise the 318 is significantly cheaper. Personally i would recomend one of the six cylinders, but again like has been said it depends what you want and what your used to.

I don't know the exact figures, but you are probable looking at 3-5mpg better for a 318, but performance wise there is a big difference as already mentioned.
