Try a motorcycle dealership. I got mine in Ivors in Galway - was about €160, but was a very good helmet. Also, watch aldi/lidl - they do them once in a while. |

They are pretty good, can you can get one for motorsports instead od using a motorcycle one. This one looks rather tasty http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/products/ProductDetail.asp?cls =MSPORT&pcode=SPA357ZL |

For motorsport Helmets Mark's Models has a good range of OMP branded helmets which are made my AGV a top motorcycle helmet company. The motorsport part of this business is based in the Greenogue Business Park Newcastle just off the N7 outside Dublin Contact details for a few places selling motorport equipment at the end of this post On the subject of how much to pay. Which would you feel safer in, a €10,995 Chevrolet Matiz or a €91,150 M3. If you are happy with the safety of a Matiz then buy a €29.99 LIDL helmet, if not buy what you can afford, and if a M3 costs nearly 10 times a Matiz, then a €300 helmet would be my preferred option. Contact details for motorsport equipment suppliers CSE Motorsport, Provincial House, Abbeyfeale, EARS Motorsport, Muddy Hill, Mallow, Co. If and when I get a motorbike, I will spend the kerayzee monies on a decent lid, as most motorbike deaths are from head impact - and the scary thing is that a huge proportion of those had little or no other life threatening injuries...
but for track day use in the car the old full-face i borrowed from the father-in-law will do. Remember you are in a car! an accident serious enough to cause brain injury will usually mangle the rest of you. So IMHO any BS or EC approved helmet will suffice. I cannot reccomend open face helmets enough - a full face gets very hot and reduces your vision. Paul |

the one from lidi is fine for what you need it meets some tough regs so i dont think you have to worry at all my helment costs me £420 but that is for an ARAI and its for my 190 mph + motorbike road and trackday bike i have come off doing daft speeds on bikes with cheaper helmets than my ARAI and have found no diffrence ;just as long as they meet the same standard of testing then you will be ok ive only spent daft ££ on my recent helmet because its the only helmet that stays put at 190 mph on the back straight at brands hatch..ie the inside lining is of better quality thats all |

Simpson helmets are the job for track days. I have a Simpson Bandit that I bought years ago as I got a very good price for it from a place in England - they are now closed though. These helmets are designed for car racing & are fireproof which most bike helmets are not. And the Bandit is a small helmet - outside dimensions - which is good as some bike helmets are very large and your head could hit the roof if you are tall. http://www.simpsonraceproducts.com/products/product_detail.a spx?cat_id=300&prod_id=4671 or http://www.simpsonhelmets.co.uk/simpson.html Plus the look extremely cool on a bike or in a car - they are expensive-ish [not too bad - bandit costs £250STG] though but are top quality items . If I was buying one I would enquire about buying from the US if it was one the really dear ones - search for a US site that do mail order to Ireland. I priced this a couple of years ago and you'll save loads from buying locally in Ireland or UK. |

Holy cow - what sort of bike do you have that hit 190mph at brands? I pretty sure full on WSB bikes with WSB riders such as Corser, Bayliss and co arent even hitting 190mph at Brands? |

What matters most IMO is comfort & correct fit. You need to try on a few brands / styles to see whats best for your head shape.
