Topic: e30 front wings Posted: 19-March-2006 at 08:46 |
Can anyone tell me the best place to order e30 front wings from as I'm sending my beloved motor to the bodyshop for a few days work.
I've seen a few available on Ebay but these are pattern parts, are they any good? Cheers for any advice, Riche30

I have often heard that pattern parts don't fit quite right

wings I had were about £28 each from Euro Car Parts, £60 to get them both sprayed, no idea if they fot right as I gave them away with the car unfitted.
In total it was just under £120 for the pair fully sprayed, so £100 for one is a bit steep unless that was fitted and sprayed?

Depends on how good your body shop is obviously the original will fit straight away, and the pattern if it dosent fit can be tweaked to fit, i just get a second hand one in excellent condition and the same colour and fit it myself, no need for a body shop.

hi rhys, my price was for spraying as well, but the whole price between them both was not alot. the pattern wings are more labour intensive as they dont fit well, the bmw wing fit stright on. i had some other bits done to. i still thought it was steep, but they made a good job.

Hi Rich. i fitted pattern parts, think they were £17 a wing or something cheap like that. They fitted really well, the only thing i noticed was that where it bolts on the angle at that brings the wing in line with the bonnet could have done with being tighter i.e. the bmw part is a 90 bend this was say 87 or similar. i just used a bit of elbow grease, and pushed the wing "closer" to the car. saved myself an absolute packet. They are not rust proofed, just dusted over with primer. you should be able to get them from euro car parts, or the ther place swedish, german something or other.
the pattern bonnets are flimsey, they dont have the inner frame bonded to the outer, so you need to do this, its easy enough with some flexi-bond, and a caulking gun.

Not all pattern parts are the same. My trusted body man is happy to use parts from one local supplier, but won't touch any other.
