How much is a coilover setup worth to you

I was just thinking the other day that current coilover conversions are between the 750>1k mark right? For me this cost is just too much. After making my own coilover conversion that is height adjustable and can be used with your existing setup and / or uprated shocks etc i was thinking that the cost shouldn't be this high.
I may have another car to do from a friends, and was thinking of doing a guide, or explaining how i made mine. Then people possilbly make their own. I don't see the coilover conversion only from a performance point of view, but as an alternative to existing  pre-set height drops. I always thought this was for the professionals only, but have done it and have some excellent results.
what do you think on this? how muc would you spend, and would you consider making your own?
