320i E30 saloon (89)

   Hi I'm a new member.
I have a problem with the electric windows/roof of my 320 E30 saloon (89).
The switches are illuminated with the drivers door open, but when closed with the engine running the illumination goes out and the windows/roof stop working.
I can only think there is a diode not working correctly.
Can anybody help?
