Just found out that the vibration I have when braking is from the two front alloys being slightly buckled! Apparently it's more noticeably from the inside out than the outside in!

So, I have a couple of options:

1 - Replace the two front alloys with similar 18" parallel replica alloys and use the good tyres already on there, but just need to find decent replicas - can anyone help?
2 - Replace all four alloys with 18" alloys that match exactly, and use the good tyres on all four.
3 - Replace all four alloys with a set of 2nd hand original 18" parallels - seen a couple off ebay, but both from 7 series with different alloy sizes quoted: one set quotes 8.5J x 18 for fronts and 9.5J x 18 for rears, the other quotes fronts as 8J x 18 AH2 and rears as 9 1/2J x 18 AH2 Part numbers 36.11-2 227 631 1513 & 36.11-2 227 633 1525 - would this fit my E39? And would my existing tyres fit (235/40/18 and 265/35/18)?

Although these are quoted as fitting an E39, did the E39 come with a slightly different sized parallel alloy then the 7 series parallels?

Any help/advice would be much appreciated?

Stew

if you are using e39 wheels on a E34 5 series or an e32 7 series, what you need are spacer rings for both the front and rear wheels,  their official name is hubcentric rings.

Hi Stew

I have a nice set of M5 Replica alloy wheels (17") if you are interested.

They are almost new wheels (no scuff marks) and the tyres have 3-4 mm of tread

I also have the spiggot rings which you would need to fit them on to your E34

Regards

It's an E39, not an E34, with replica 18" parallel alloys. Would like to stick with 18" cause I only just splashed out on 4 new tyres about 6 months ago! I do also like the parallels, but it's the choice of whether to just replace the two duff alloys with replicas or replace with 2nd hand originals....this is where my question about parallels from a 7 series came in (the only ones I can find on e-bay)...they say they fit an E39, but would my tyres fit...particularly my rears at 265 width?

Cheers

Stew
