the eagle eyed will notice this is the same message i put on M power forum but got no joy so am putting it on here sorry if uve seen it already!

I started a thread like this in january but kinda lost touch with it, back then it was just out of interest but now I actually would like a definite answer! I'm not trying to advertise it on here because it is forbidden!

My grandfather is going to be selling a BMW M635CSi soon, he would like to know how much it is worth! Here is what I know about it as prices seem to differ from different people and also "Munich Legends?" seem to have different ideas on it!

M635csi D reg 1986
Lachs Silver
Alpina wheels (with originals as well)
about 110k miles on clock - timing chain done at 97k

Other info is that the auxiliary fan is broken and he would have fixed it in the past, but now does not want the hassle so want to sell with it broken (replacements are available from america about 300 dollars). he made a clutch servo to aid gear changes, also a exhaust tip he made himself.

There are some very knowledgeable people on here so I'm opening it to the floor! how much do you think (reasonably!) it would be able to be sold for?

Thanks

I'll answer this post too then

Auxilary fan is £123 + fitting (just had mine done).

Prices are all over the place depending on condition. Anywhere from £5k up. The top prices for Highline spec cars ('87 on) are £10 - £12k which is really into specialist dealer territory (ie Munich Legends).

The problem is finding the right person for your cars condition. For some, the price will be right but the condition isn't good enough, for others the condition is right but the price will be too high. Remember, every prospective buyer wants the car for less than you want to sell it for.

Selling a car is a complete pain.

Have you been to Munich Legends at Chelwood Gate? It's only 20 miles or so from you. They may be interested as they have a queue of people waiting for cars. Just don't get upset if they say no or give you a long list of things that would need to be fixed. They operate at the top end of the E24 market & their customers are fussy.

Without seeing the car but assuming it has a proper full history & doesn't have any pricey jobs that need doing I would say £8k+. You could put the car on ebay with a reserve price of £8k (or more if you feel it's worth it) & see how it goes.

Hope this helps.
