Hi,

Anyone else here using Mintex brake pads?

I was thinking of trying out the low dust Mintex Pads but my mechanic told me they have stopped production of them recently due to the fact they can't use the asbestos compound in them anymore.

One of my work colleagues was recently at the Bendix-Mintex plant in northern Victoria where they are made and he confirmed production of the asbestos compound ones had ceased. Apprarently they are trialling some new compounds but they're still trying to perfect the compound (its supposed to be a big secret like the 12 herbs & spices thing.

Actually the plant just reopened after all the workers went on strike after the company was bought out by FMP Group.

Guess I'll have to wait and see what they come out with.

Ian

Ian

maybe worth a general post for a wider audience on this one.

I have standard brakes (still) and therefore just use OEM pads, which incidently come up as 850 brake pads (Looking at old invoices) Must be the same.
