Internal Fan wont switch off!!

   I have a E46 (I Think!) 320D SE Touring 2000, this has been an excellent car for us since buying it with no problems at all... BUT we have an intermittent problem where if we have been driving with the air fan on maybe with the air con and we come to park up if I turn the egnition off and take the key out the fan goes ape! it seems to go onto full blast and stays on for a while!! sounds like it has a mind of its own.. Please can anyone shed any light on this before I take it to BMW?
