Topic: E24 Springs Posted: 29-April-2006 at 08:09 |
Hows all, Quick question, Having trouble getting lowered springs for my e24 as there a pretty rare car out here, Have not managed locate any here, Also no mail order company in uk wants to post them as the weight is around 15kg which will be serious postage. A company called king springs make springs for most of the beemers but they dont do E24-E28 and have no pattern for them, Will springs from any other bmw in the range fit the E24/E28 setup and i might have a better chance of getting them? Thanks in advance- getting desperate!

You can buy a massive range of springs from both Turner Motorsport and Bavarian Auto in the USA and they will post them out to you, although postage is quite high. In the UK i have used a company called motorsport world who also have a massive range for the E24. http://www.turnermotorsport.com/html/catalog_home.asp http://www.motorsportworld.co.uk/frame-detail.asp?PAGE=/manr anges.asp These companies should be able to sort you out. Decided to opt for coilovers instead as sourced them locally and its a better investment than 15kg post from the uk!, Thanks for all replys on the topic. Rodge |

That's because the current draw of LEDs is so much less than a filament bulb. So your standard flasher relay in the steering column thinks there's a bulb failure. Solution: obtain and fit a variable-load flasher unit in place of the original one. I know the 48-LED "bulbs" you're taking about. They are not as good as they should be. I'll post the link to a review which explains why..... Edited by Horsetan |

Hows it going, Aye figured that on the Bulbs- i dont really like the way the leds flash eithar but its done now! you would imagine 48leds at different angles would be visible enough,If there useless il post it here dnt worry.
Ya cant seem to get those philips silver bulbs or the like in auz hence why i got these, Any idea of were id locate a pic online of a an E24 mtec bodykit horsetan?

Here's a pic of the rear M-Tech airdam (very rarely fitted) - it's the green car nearest the camera: ...whilst this is an example of the front M-Tech airdam: Note the serrated lower lip. Edited by Horsetan |

Horsetan, That photo of the front spoiler is spot on and a very nice example - that rear spoiler however, is NOTHING like the pukka item - the genuine thing is very similar to the front with 3 delicate ribs on the lower edge and sympathetic body-styling - that yellow thing is an after market horror show Sharkfan |

oops - apologies to the owner of the yellow car - it's just not a M Technic spoiler - I shouldn't pass rude, judgemental comment - sorry again Sharkfan |

You have no idea how difficult it is to find a clear photo of an M-Tech rear. But I think I've fixed it Edited by Horsetan |

Good work horsetan, I also got duped y the 48 led high count then! So by his description the only led bulb that is any good is the first one but it wont fit anything! philips silvervision mite have been a better investment.fu#k I like that rear apron on the 6 i must say, but the skirts on the otherhand.. il have to see them in the flesh but they really look like something you could buy after market in the mid 1990s bodykit craze. The kit i have bought is genuine but it will not include the front bumper as far as i know. Whats the general thoughts on these kits, Cheers all Rory |

Personally I don't like the bodykits on a six, they just look too heavy. The front M-tech one is OK but then it's not a whole lot different from the standard airdam. The six is just such a good looking car anyway, if it ain't broke...

Aye but on a non big bumper model do you not find them a little "skimpy" at the back,? The rear apron is nice and doesnt look out of place with the centre exhausts.. in saying that the rear apron would look out of place without the skirts so its a vicious circle, The e30 mtec 2 kit is a work of automotive art so its a pity they failed somewhat here with the skirts.. |

I can see what you mean but personally I really like the way the chrome bumper cars are big and mean at the front and small and squat at the back - it all adds to the aggressive look. Later cars do have a more "refined" look and maybe a bit better balanced front to back, but have lost some sporting appeal IMHO Anyway, wouldn't it be boring if we all liked the same things! |
