I would doubt you would get points etc for a blown bulb. Might get stopped and told to replace it but that should be all.

surprisingly, yes, it is against the law to drive a defective vehicle (yes, even down to bulbs) so for goodness sake don't admit if you're stopped by the police that you know that it's blown already otherwise they might decide to issue you with a vehicle rectification notice (get it fixed within so many days or incur a fine) other than just advise you of the fact and suggest you get it fixed asap

bulbs by their very nature can blow at any time.... and it was working okay when i left on my journey officer....

You will get a producer (5 day ticket) and it will cost you a bulb and for an mot inspector to check car over

So get down the shop and get a bulb now

Plus don`t give the police any reason to stop you as you never know what they might find

WHEW! Sounds tough.  I have been driving with a blown turn signal for a month.  What are the cell phone laws?

no idea about the us, but over here using a hand-held mobile while driving is an endorseable offence carrying 3 points and a fine

Good for you guys!  Depending on what city and state there may or may not be a penalty.  I for one think we should adopt your code.  Might as well include coffee drinking and moms in BIG SUVs in the far left lane.
