Hi everybody, I am in the South of England and need both N/S and O/S front wings for a 635csi. I believe any six series wings can be made to fit. I am looking for either new or used wings can somebody please help me - I can't find any anywhere and want them ASAP!!!

pre 82 and post 82 ones are slightly different; best to get the right ones if you can, what age is your car?

cheers

It's the wheelarch flare (earlier car had less-pronounced flare), and the A-pillar gutter strip mounting point....

We should count ourselves lucky. Wings for a late '80s Merc SL are £750 each!

But at least they have the option of getting pattern wings to ease the cost.

Over £800 for both the wings??? Is there no alternative? I don't really want to spend over £350 for both.

Unless you can pick up good secondhand panels, not really.

Quote I don't really want to spend over £350 for both.

The other thing you can think about is whether your current panels can be saved, with some careful cutting......

Here's how Brucey did his....

I had both wings repaired with new metal & lead loaded for £350.

However, nothing lasts forever & at some point I'm going to have to stump up for new wings.

It would be nice if the Club could put some pressure on BMW to reduce the cost. After all, why is an E30 wing only £120? (ECP patterns are only £20!!!). The fact there are only 1000 Sixes on the road in the UK is not a reason for high prices - there are plenty more in the States.

Also the price of bumpers is even worse!

I fear the current price situation will lead to more otherwise good Sixes being scrapped.

Fritz's Bits do offer GRP front wings (click on their "New Products" link), but I seem to remember that there was a quality control problem at one stage - either the profile was slightly "out", or they didn't quite fit.

Another enterprising eejit had a project to do carbon fibre wing panels in the last couple of years, and invited interested parties to invest, but it all seems to have died a death.....otherwise we'd have seen the finished items by now.

Neither option will be particularly cheap.

Depends which bodyshop you want to go to..... I presume you would probably need to respray the whole panel to match your car anyway.

There was a peice in one of the club magazines the other month about the carbon fibre wings, the guys doing it (brian jordan ? who races a six - i Think he is sponsored by fritz bitz) was asking for a not so concours car to trial fit them on, may be worth trying to find him and see what's happening there?

what about making your own? you have the old one, make a mould using the original, and fibreglass one. Depends how much time you have, and whether you can be bothered.

Bigish job, but three days and you should have 2 done really. probably better to find older ones that need repair, or just repair/ get yours repaired. i have the same repair to do very soon.

Its gonna be finished for summer!!! thats the plan!!!
