Is there one company that stands out for quality, when it comes to complete restorations.

All depends on your budget. There's TT Workshops if money is no problem. Whoever you decide on it, always costs more in the end.

Quality is my main concern. I don't want to spend a lot of money and end up with a good job. I want a new or better than new car out of it.

But I still want good value, why would I pay more than I need to?

First off I don't have any idea what it should cost. I know its going to be a lot of money but has anyone with any experaince with this got a ball park figure.

Depends where in the country you are, I know a small company in Hastings, DC Coachworks, do a fantastic job. Have done my Batmobile from bare metal upwards, top quality.

You'd be better off (& cheaper buying a sorted car in the first place). A 2002 Tii can cost £40,000 to build to concours, a 2002 Turbo will set you back a mere £65,000 to concours standards. A little silly when top Tii's are grossly under valued at £7000 & the Turbo according to some outdated magazines is only £12,000 (yea right you won't find one for that now days, more like late teens). If you can do the work yourself that helps. Bodywork is the expensive part, you could always upgrade the mechanics late. Send me your Email address & I send you the 02 Buying Guide it might help you judge this better. Also Mike Macartney's 02 Restoration Guide (Jaymic 01263 768768) has a budget calculator in it to help you work out the cost. Good Luck. Richard.

Unless you have a particular car that you are duty bound to restore because
of sentimental reasons Richard is right buy one thats already been done.
I'm just at the end of a six year restoration which included four body shops
which was a nightmare.
Don't forget to include looking for restorers on the Continent also.
Favourable exchange rates.

Yes thats a very good point.. check out some of the former Eastern Bloc countries.. Redundant Mig fighter builders knocking out the most exquisite hand crafted aluminium Cobras you could ever wish for.

.. I think Keith at Jaymic has a better than new Tii for sale.

The cars sugested a great but I really want a touring.

If there is one in that condition I would consider it.

my own is looking a bit tired and at 40k for a rebuild it will stay that way. However I will start looking on the continent, does anyone have any contact info.

Some great advise thank you guys

Try www.mobile.de & www.autoscout24.com they both have loads of interesting 02's for sale, but remember they will almost certainly be LHD. I saw a 2002 with M3 Engine for around £8k - now that's cheap for a car like that. Looked very steathy.
