328i (1995) advance/retard and Cam Angle

   Does anyone have experience of what you should see on the diagnostics when Vanos advances. I was with an engineer who wasn't sure whether when the Vanos advances whether you should see a change in the Camshaft angle. The diagnostics reported that the angle remained constant at 26 point something in both Vanos advance and retard conditions. This was the same on the road and in the workshop.

Any ideas?
