   We live in France and have a UK spec 316i compact 1995, just developed a auto box fault, everything works fine when cold ,but after 5 miles or so, the "electronic selector light" comes on , and it goes into limp home mode, still works if switched to manuel,
Due to our rural situation we use a local garage for servicing, he doesnt have a clue whats wrong with it, do we have to get to a main dealer for fault codes to be read?
any ideas please!
