ive recently bought a six series thats had alot of
tuning work done on it in the past but looking at the
bills there are some things which are not there
anymore. one of the bills is for a alpina B9 ecu.

so my question is;

is there any way to identify the ECU as being a B9
version? are there any numbers or markings?

it would be nice if it was sill present. hope you can
help

Sure is, the ordinary Motronic ecu 'tin' or casing will display the Alpina logo on a sticker, plus there will normally be a test type label signed by the technician or tester. This states the car specifics etc.

Not always. My B9 3.5 had it's original ECU without
any Alpina logos. It was a standard unit. The same
applies to a one owner from new 1984 B9 which
again had a bog standard 735i ECU.

Simple answer: It depends on the original car spec and where built/ 'assembled' - if a UK dealer 'custom order' then perhaps the extent of the 'conversion' was cosmetic/ handling only so no ecu modification.

the ecu was bought for the car in 2004 from fritzbits
but the reason i tink it may of been taken off is that
there is also a bill for a 7th injector which i cant see
for love nor money. i can see a blanked off t piece in
the line but not where the injector is or has been.

being new to bmw i was maybe thinking the alpina
ecu had the facility to run a 7th injector

im still learning about me bm so appolgise for my
nieveitey (and spelling)

Your probably right - that sounds like fuel delivery was beefed up for competition perhaps. The Alpina ecu may have been used as it it carried a better 'power' suited programme for ignition timing & the amount of fuel /air required at the time. Sounds like your car has seen a bit of tuning in it's past. Check that your suspension bushes were uprated up too to cope with the extra torque and stress on the suspension mountings.

I would guess that's an ECU for a July 1990 325i
manual Touring RHD which I think would have been
a Sytner built Alpina C2 2.7?

These later Motronic ECU's were mappable but the
early ones from the B9 era were not.

pm9575-thankfully there is also a bill for(2004);

diff mount bush, pitman arm bushs, upper and lower
wishbone buses, drag links, drag arm and idler
arms.

still unsure as where some of them are but im sure i
will find out! how long do the bushes take to wear
out?

also got a bill for alpina B10 cam and an M30 from a
highline!! but those two are in 2005!

still have not looked at the ecu yet - sorry, will
tomorrow as i have some work to do on her
