Official US Pricing for the E92 335i just released.

http://e90post.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=30936& amp;d=1152216122

The 335i with every conceivable option on the list, including spending $4k on the useless active steering and active cruise control, is just $52k or €40k at todays fx rate.  When you consider that the same spec of car will probably cost around €80k here its certainly enough to make me sick.

Also, the fricking yanks can have an additional $3k off the price if they pick the car up themselves!!!  Why we don't get the euro delivery option I don't know.

20% TVA + 8% Duty + the mighty VRT = Irish getting screwed all the way!

Matt

I suspect the dealer is way off the mark on the basic.  Since these things are only sold in SE spec now, the E46 330i SE is €64,400 including delivery.  I can't imagine the 335i is going to be cheaper as basic and I would expect it to be in the €68,000 range.

There are some things that are not explained by VRT though.

Take for example automatic transmission.  In the US its a $1,275 option or roughly €1,000.  The same transmission is €3k here.  Their profit margin on European cars must be way higher.

A couple of points. You can't really compare the prices in the US with Europe. There are lots of taxes that are all added on AFTER the sale that don't show up in price lists. Because of the vast numbers of cars sold in the US the margins are lower for the dealers although the BMW factory will charge roughly the same price to all markets. And VRT is charged on all extras in this wonderful country.

Mick I imagine in the states 90% of their cars will be sold with auto... whereas in europe it would prob be 90% manual. They dont want to piss off the yanks charging 3k for what is generally seen as a standard item.

Guys here's a suggestion.

If you bought a 335ti up North and took it down south, why declare it an import, why not just use it as a weekend car, or having an up north address aswell?

(I wouldn't mind having a few 335ti's sitting outside my house! )
