You do get a discount on older cars - I remember when I used to take my E39 to the Dealer.

I don't know if the prices are similar to the E34, but I recently bought new front discs and pads from Speedyparts and this came to £93 inc vat - thought this was a good price?

I got Brembo disks for my E39 from GSF for £40 (or the Euro equivalent) each.
I see from the Brembo site that they are about £160 per pair!

You should have waited and gone to Euro Car parts up at Possil Cross the next day.

ATE discs which are the OEM ones are about £45-50 for a pair I think.  I bought mine from there over a year ago.

I replaced my BMW discs which had ATE and BMW logos stamped on them with ones that just have ATE stamped on them.

Same brake disc except mine didn't go down the road of getting a BMW stamp and then placed in a BMW logo box at the ATE factory.

That is the only difference between the discs I took off and the discs I put back on! Oh and the £50 price difference

Edit

Unfortunately that isn't a very good price for the discs - can you take them back to the main dealer, or have you already bolted them to the hubs?

Andrew

I asked davy (bm motor's) yesterday about GSF but he use's Euro and has done for year's (and so have i) but I just thought GSF are 2-3 mile's away I'd give them a try that's all.

Glad you haven't lost out on any cash then!

BMW don't make cars, they build them.

Lots of different manufacturers make lots of different bits for the car and then they are all nailed together in Bavaria and out comes a Beamer.  I never really thought about it too much before until I used this forum, but when costs were pointed out by the guys on here, that you were actually getting the same bit for half the price, I did more digging' into places like ECP.  The guys at ECP say they actually get parts in which have the BMW logo ground off them!

Front discs are dead easy to do yourself.  I did mine along with the pads and failed to notice the 'L' and 'R' markings on the pads until I had fitted the right hand side and began to re-fit the left hand side!  D'oh!

As long as you buy OEM parts from ECP you will not go wrong.  Non OEM parts should be avoided at all costs i.e. ECP rear anti roll bar links!

Yea I know about this "grounding off logo's" carry on, Ronnie at weaver's told me about it. It's just sh1t how dealer's can get away with putting their stamp on and dam double the price in some case's..
