    Posted: 13-July-2006 at 08:31

Dear Members -

I am a new member from the US currently working in Eastern Europe, and I need some help!!

How can I determine if my 1999 E39, 523i meets Euro 3 emission standards?  The car was purchased in Munich and is a European spec. vehicle.  BUt nowhere (at least I cannot find it) in the Fahrzeugbrief does it indicate what Euro standard it is.  Am I looking at a wrong document in order to determine this?

Kindest regards -

BMWNothingElse

I work for a Mercedes Main Dealer (commercial) and vehicles currently being produced have to conform to Euro 4 emissions regulations which has only just come out so I would think your vehicle being a european spec would defiantly meet the previous euro 3 standards. Regarding how you find this information out i couldn't be 100% sure but I am sure if you were to contact BMW directly they would be able to tell you.

Regards

Mike

The car wont be illegal to use anywhere because of it, will it?

No, it's the manufacturers that have to make the vehicles to the corrects emission laws then it's up to the MOT test to ensure they are still within the given boundries.

Maybe he wants to export the car to the States and needs proof of engine emissions.

The best would be to email BMW AG and ask the question.
