Thank you all for your kind comments regarding the logo/banner design.. Killian, Would you need graphics for the website re-design if you were going to upgrade it? I would like to offer my assistance in this department if needed. |

I just wish we didn't have that 'Pushing for perfection' strapline. Sounds, ermmm, tacky. No offence intended. |

none taken As mentioned before, a slogan can be changed but due to the lack of input, I've just put that in so the logo could be changed. Has anyone got any better slogans? |

Getting back to the original 'Where now'..... Is it possible to include a link on each thread that displays all the posts rather than pages of them, with each page requiring you to click through to the next one? All the other forums I know have a 'All' link, which makes scrolling through threads all the more easier. In todays age of broadband it doesn't take much time to load even the lengthiest of threads even with pictures. I just think it'll make using the boards much easier on the user. It may be a restriction of the forum software for all I know, but thought I'd ask nonetheless. |

..and two more suggestions. I'd like to see a Reviews section and a Spotted section. Reviews in a distinct area make it a hell of a lot easier for people to find something of use to them as regards cars or car related products. One forum I use has extensive Reviews and they're very well read indeed. Used cars, new cars, GPS kit, tyres, dealers, you name it. I find that forums without such a section lose much valuable information because Search facilities are limited in scope and users are limited in knowing what to actually use as search terms. A reviews section makes the process a lot simpler. The Spotted section is another I've seen used to hugely popular effect. Be it Supercars, Chavmobile's, nice cars of any make and model AND fellow BMW-Board users - it's great little feature that gets lots of replies. The only thing you have to be wary of is ensuring all users are told they MUST NOT POST REGISTRATION NUMBERS on either pictures of reported 'spots'. Anyway, just my two-penneth. |

Oh, and lastly...an appeal. This might touch a few raw nerves, but I'm going to say it nonetheless. When affiliated, connected, attached (or whatever you want to call it) to the BMW Car Club GB, some of the attitudes shown to owners of new or newer BMW's....well it was frankly appalling. This isn't direct reference to myself either (I am perfectly capable of flaming off at someone in response so I couldn't care less to be honest, although it'd be nice not to have to). However, a number of people with new models found themselves in receipt of a host of rather vociferous comments from those who preferred the older, or what they deemed, 'real' BMW's. It didn't help the forum at all in my opinion and was one of two reasons I opted to go elsewhere. I think my view is easier put across by saying there are few who would see fit to call an older BMW a 'piece of old crap', yet they were regularly expected to take comments such as 'wouldn't have spent my money on that image-lead rubbish'. The point being, if someone doesn't tell you how to spend your money, what gives someone the right to tell someone else how to spend theirs? It polarised the forum against new BMW owners in my opinion. The irony is that when I look through a few of the posts I have missed over the last 5-6 months...I see some members driving 'last model' BMW's that they had lots to say about a while ago. Interesting to say the least. Not all new BMW owners purchase their cars because they want to be fed cups of coffee and have their shoes licked by commission hungry salesmen. Many, not all I accept, buy them because they have a genuine enthusiasm for quality cars. Be it BMW, Audi, Porsche, or whatever - if they're a car enthusiast then I don't see why new, old, used, battered or bruised should make any difference at all. It's fair to say I have also noticed none of this in any threads since the 'new' forum was born....so here's to a bright all-encompassing future. In summary - if it's not to your taste, but is clearly someone elses pride and joy....what is there to gain by telling them it's 'rubbish, crap' or 'you're that sort of person I see'. Ultimately, there are ways of voicing an opinion and I'm all in favour of someone saying 'Not my cup of tea, but pleased to hear you're delighted with' - which gets their personal taste across whilst accepting the opinion of another. So it's not about stifling opinion - it's just understanding that sometimes an opinion can be much more of a dig than an objective comment. Edited by Coasting |

Its just jealousy.. you will never escape it when you have a nice car. And you are right about the sniping, I'm guilty of having bad thoughts about one particular model that is no longer in production.. that I can't for the life of me see why people would want to buy one.. but thoughts are all they are.. we get a few at meetings, the owners are all decent blokes and a credit to the forum. Mother used to say "if you have nothing good to say, don't say it" and that applies more to the forum than in real life. That was a good post there Chris, and should be put somewhere as a sticky for all new recruits to read. |

Preeeeeeecisely. The jealously aspect of such posts is an interesting one because it is, of course, something that a perpetrator of derogatory comments is always quick to deny. I don't think I've seen masses of jealously on the BMW Board and its former existence, but derisory comments have certainly been much more evident than on any (and I don't say that lightly) other car forum I've ever visited. As long as people remember the fact that a car might not be liked by them but may well be loved by someone else - then I think forums and their users can develop. I should stress something though - it's a minority, and hopefully they'll think twice or have disappeared now. Think of it this way - there are, quite literally, thousands of new BMW owners every day. If 10 out of those thousands wanted to find a portal for information then wouldn't it be great if they were to choose this website? If they did, and were then greeted with 'God you must have been desperate to own a new BMW eh?', then they're not going to hang about for long (oh, and I'd back them up anyway because I think the 1-series in 120d Sport and 130i M Sport is an absolutely cracker of a car). So we'd have lost potential contributions for years to come - ownership experience, the lot. The latter being the most valuable - ownership experience and views on new cars from those that drive them can be fundamental in getting new users onto forums. Not test drives, not looks-only opinions, not price driven question marks - but long term ownership comments. I've seen a website thrive on just that. FINALLY, FINALLY, FINALLY Now can we have a Meets Section? Outside of the regional sections? Look at it this way. If you're travelling, visiting or whatever - and you happen to be in another part of the country a week next Tuesday (or whenever)....rather than have to go to a regional section you go straight to the Meets section and see if there is one local to where you'll be going. I've done just that - and because of it attended meets in various parts of the country. Everyone posts Meet details there (time, venue, etc) and it results in expanded meets, greater attendance and people from different parts of the country getting to know each other.
