Went to disarm my E36 Coupe this morning to find that the alarm disarmed but, did not unlock the doors. I tried a few times but I had to unlock the car with the key (never had to do that before with this car). My car alarm system is a BMW 3T system, anyone know what is causing this to happen? and how to rectify it? the battery in the fob is one month old from new. I have checked the alarm system manual but, not on troubleshooting guide. Rob |

Could be the battery in your key fob on its way out.
If you do change the battery, follow the steps in the user manual to re-initialise the key. |

If you manage to replace the battery on under 60 seconds (I think) you won't need to re-initialise it. After this, well - make sure the door is open in case you lock yourself out |

yup, somethin' like that rhys, I changed the battery for a new one less than a month ago (in less than 60 seconds without having to re-initialise the remote and it's been working fine since.) It's just a bit odd that this happened for no apparent reason whatsoever.. |

Ok, after further investigation, my driver's side door solenoid/actuator is playing up. (hence the alarm problem) so, I'll have to check it out this w/end. Cleaning & Lubing it first before I write the actuator off and get a new one ordered..around 50 i think.. Oh no not more (MOT on saturday also) Why does everything decide to go wrong now?? |

Took the driver door interior off today and soundproofing. Got to work cleaning & silicone greasing window runners as well as the locking actuator. Tried it before I re-assembled everything and was fine. Re-assembled everything and is now back to normal..windows, locking alarm, speaker and door mirrors ...phew The alarm problem must have been an indicator that something was amiss, anyway it's sorted now. |
