This is a C/P from techconnect website:

'Hot on the heels of Toshiba's confirmation (yesterday 05/06/06) of a HD-DVD launch in November, Sony has delayed the European launch of its Blue-ray enabled PlayStation 3 console.

The revised European launch date for the PS3 has been announced as March of 2007. Sony's Ken Kataguri blamed the European release date delay on issues that have arisen in mass producing elements required by the console's next generation Blue-ray drive.

Worse still for Sony’s next generation effort is news that, though Sony still expects to ship 6 million PS3s by March, it has halved its worldwide shipping expectations for this year. These difficulties in manufacturing will mean fewer consoles available at launch in Japan and the US.

Kataguri said of the European delay, "I am so sorry not to be able to answer all the expectations." The real issue here though, is that Sony has given Microsoft's Xbox 360 another holiday season to extend its lead over the now dubious looking PS3.

Nintendo also stands to gain massively from the delay, with its WII set to launch sometime this autumn (to be announced on the 15th of September). While a launch in the US and Japan before Christmas will help solidify Sony's position there, the lack of availability in Europe will not only fail to "answer all the expectations", but to drive potential customers into waiting competitors.

Bad news from Sony.'

That's xmas ruined..

Grr

The world is a tragedy to those who feel, but a comedy to those who think.
