Are there any common sources of fuel leaks that I should be on the look out for?

My E30 320 smells strongly of petrol when I pull up after a long run (one of the injectors is particularly noisy when cold - could this be the source?), plus fuel economy has taken a turn for the worse recently - it got better after the recent inspection 2 (300 miles per tank) now its' dropped back to about 250 miles per tank....?

As usual, your thoughts are much appreciated!

I had a fuel leak on my E30 that only occurred after startup from cold. I used to get a strong smell of petrol for a short while after starting from cold. It was due to a leak in a pipe in the engine bay that goes into the fuel rail. Got the pipe replaced. Leaking petrol on a hot engine is not good news...

The pipe is the one on the backside of the rail, its normally held on with just a jubilee clip which is ok but the pipe perishes underneath and it pisses fuel out, hence smell.  Another thing to check is leaks around the fuel filter, yours will either be in the engine bay or under the rear nearside quarter of the car, they can leak to as they are under pressure.
