Topic: Bluetooth Conversion Posted: 08-October-2003 at 19:09 |
I have a 2002 M5 with the full comms pack. This means I have the now very old motorola phone. I currently have a Sony Ericssonas my mainphone and when I get into the car I divert calls to the sim in the motorola. Does anyone know anything about the bluetooth car kit and whether it is available as a retorfit? I can't find any information on the BMW website.
Cheers |

Having recently purchased an E46 320d there was a nokia kit installed when I bought the car. I had an 8310 so it was of no use with the phone kit so bought myself a 6310i via ebay and swapped the sim card over. I can now use the phone in the car and it is quite useful. The thing is do I have to have the bluetooth technology switched on for it to auto mute the radio when making or receiving calls ? I've noticed that when receiving calls the person has asked me to turn down the radio when I answer. Sorry if this sounds a bit lame but Im not sure if the kit is compatible or not although these type of phones have been out more than 2 years. Also, in the multi function steering wheel surely when I press the speech button the phone should automatically answer without having to touch the answer button on the phone. Any advice would be much appreciated. |

No, all you need to do is buy a radio mute kit which goes in line behind the radio itself, very easy to fit just plug and play, providing you have radio up front and not in the boot like me (wide sat nav) then its straightforward.

there is now an interface that plugs into the nokia cark91 normal hands free kit & bmw 3 series (non sat nav) that allows you to fully control the phone from the wheel & puts the phone display onto the stereo. Will check what other bmw's it fits. They are working on aversion fr bluetooth mike |

Cheers BoyBimmerM3, i'd really appreciate it - also any information on what to ask for as i've tried several times at different dealerships but just get stonewalled i.e. "BMW do not retrofit them - they can only be obtained from the factory in Germany"!!

As far as i know it will interface with the Stereo but cannot say if it will be possible to link into wheel, Might be possible to interface bluetooth headunit with Multifunction wheel as most electronics can be linked

Just for your info gents - http://www.bmw.co.uk/apm/corporate/news_index/0,3312,,00.html Found on the BMW Corporate site. Look under the topics on the right of the page marked 4 November 2003 - 08/11/03 Mobile phone legislation. Details what phones are compatible with the BMW Bluetooth system. Edited by Madrab |

Sorry Darryl did not realise, cut short says that most motorola phones will fit with BMW car Kit, V70 mentioned, therefore V500/600 should be ok as well ( i have V500 but use Bluetooth headset). Hope this helps
