Basically as they Support The BMW Car Club in Aberdeen they are looking to get some decent photo`s of local cars that use them for there showroom,I know there are a few on here that use A.W.Autotech,but even if you don`t you are more than welcome to add yours. You dont have to be a member either

If you like to show of your car and have a decent Photo At a decent resolution and you would like to have it on display then please PM me and i will tell you where to email it too

I have a couple of photo`s already, but ideally looking for more

FAQ:

What are they using the photo for?

Simply a collage of BMW Cars on display on a showroom wall

Can i edit my number plate?

All number plates will be edited to hide the cars reg

Thanks

Graham - I suspect that following Pete's lead in the NE we'll be looking at doing the same for Davy at BM Motors - the idea (I think) is to have piccies of cars actually serviced by or which live around the specialists.

To do a collage of the cars that go to Davies. Like Petes doing  for Autoteck for services above and beyound the call of duty to the club.

I am a bit suspicious of intentions here...

If the company want to show their work Dunc, why dont they take their own photos of customer cars?

Another thing, they may be using your photos to mislead punters, that they have done work on that specific car, when infact, they haven't even seen the car in the metal..

I'd be up for putting a photo in for Davy @ BM Motors, as he has done work on my car, as long as a dislcaimer is issued also..(infringement of copyright)

Another thing is a copyright issue, how do you as an individual, who has authorised the use of the photo for a collage, know that this photo wont turn up elsewhere.

I'm not knocking the idea, just think it aint been thought through properly. A disclaimer per photo/s should be issued also.

Just a thought...

What's stopping anyone from taking photos off this very site & ohters like photobucket, all the meets etc & using them elsewhere either?

I kind of see where you are coming from, but the garage wouldn't be able to take as nice a pic as we could give them, & I honestly don't mind where my photo ends up, like I say, umpteen photos of my car have been posted by me on public forums.

That would be some size of a file at high resolution, and high cost to print.

I thought the collage, is just individual photos printed out and then put onto a wall. Maybe all photos done with borders so they look more professional?

I don't think there's anything underhand here... it's the Region's idea, not the indy's.

1) We're looking at building up the Region and the Club's profile in Scotland.

2) We are lucky to have 2 indies at the mo who are big supporters.

This idea is purely and simply a way of representing the relationship between the Region and the indies. If you would like a picture of your car to appear in the workshop of one of the indies (and I would suggest that it makes most sense for the cars either to have been worked on or reside near the indy in question) then we are asking folk to pass the picture(s) on. If you have any reservations then there is neither the obligation nor the expectation that folk will pass on pictures.

The end result is essentially some prety pictures on the wall of the workshop(s), hopefully resulting in :

1) Punter sees all the nice shiny cars and asks what the story is - potential new recruit for the Region

2) Punter sees all the nice shiny cars and feels warm and fluffy about having so wisely chosen his indy.

I would agree with the potential cost implications of a single print... I think the end result will depend upon the number of pix submitted.

ok Dunk understood, and I agree with the car pics submitted should be customers or in proximty of the indie garage in question.

You don't even have to be local, use the garage or a club member etc:

This is misleading

As for the print and filesize, the photoshop can be partitioned into different file sizes ie. 5 photos per area then they can be exported as a jpeg then printed and ultimately collated into the collage.

I see what you're getting at I think Pete was just trying to emphasise that it's an open to all kinda thing.

What you've got to remember is that there's all sorts of stuff going on in the background with the committee or other interested parties - sometimes that doesn't come out so clearly on t'internet. (Which is why I get my work colleagues to read certain eMails before they're sent as nuclear grade dunk-o-grams )

Rossi,

So this collage is seen as more structured, rather than a 'rip out of magazine' type of collage. How about bordering them, all same size, all in line and in the border it says the car type and owner?

yup, categorize them into model types ie. E30's E34's etc...then collate into an overall A3 pic which can be printed and tiled with other models for an overall pic size of say A1..(dependant on amount of cars submitted of course)

dunno about car owner details but model type good idea..
